- Sausages (chipolatas or cocktail sausages recommended)
- Ready-rolled puff pastry
- Edible eyes
- 1 egg (beaten with a splash of water for egg wash)
- Ketchup or tomato sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- If using large sausages, cut into smaller bite-sized pieces. Cocktail sausages can be used as is.
- Unroll puff pastry on a flat surface. If chilled, let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Cut puff pastry into 1-inch wide strips and wrap them around each sausage, leaving small gaps.
- Brush wrapped sausages with egg wash.
- Place on baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden and crispy.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then add edible eyes to each mummy.
Notes
For best results, thaw puff pastry for 20–30 minutes before using. Use chipolatas or cocktail sausages for easy snacking. Double brush with egg wash for extra golden pastry. Mummies can be prepped ahead and stored in the fridge until ready to bake.
