Description
These Chewy Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are soft, fudgy, and dusted in powdered sugar for that signature crackled look. Simple to make, beautiful on any holiday tray, and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- â…“ cup softened butter
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 4 large eggs
- ½ cup powdered sugar for rolling
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, sugar, and vanilla until blended.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing lightly after each addition.
- Add the dry mixture to the wet and mix on low until the dough forms. It will be sticky.
- Cover and chill the dough for at least 1 hour, or overnight for taller cookies.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat generously in powdered sugar.
- Place on the baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until the edges are set and centers look slightly soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Keep the dough cold for best crinkles. Chill between batches if needed. Don’t overbake — a soft center gives the cookies their chewy, brownie-like texture. Freeze dough balls for easy make-ahead baking.
