Description

This Cheesy Beef and Potato Casserole is a comforting, hearty meal perfect for family dinners. Layers of ground beef, thinly sliced potatoes, and gooey cheese make this casserole a crowd-pleaser, and it’s easy to customize to suit your taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 4 cups Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes (thinly sliced)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter (optional for richness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook for about 5 minutes until the beef is browned and no longer pink.
  3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Add the heavy cream and simmer for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Grease a casserole dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Spread the beef mixture over the potatoes.
  5. Top the beef with a generous amount of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.
  7. Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the layers to set.

Notes

Make sure to slice the potatoes thinly to ensure they cook evenly. Feel free to add extra vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or carrots for a twist!
