Description

These easy Pecan Pie Bars have all the cozy flavor of classic pecan pie with a buttery brown butter crust and maple-sweetened filling. Perfect for holidays or weekend baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Brown Butter Crust:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cut into pieces)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • For the Pecan Pie Filling:
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 3 cups chopped pecans
  • Optional: flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter in a light-colored skillet over medium heat, stirring until golden brown and nutty (about 5–8 minutes). Transfer to a heat-safe bowl and let cool 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in sugar, water, vanilla, and salt. Mix in flour and cornstarch until smooth. Press dough evenly into prepared pan.
  4. Bake crust for 15 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  5. In the same pan, combine maple syrup, brown sugar, butter, and cream. Heat gently until butter melts and sugar dissolves.
  6. Remove from heat, cool 5 minutes, then whisk in eggs and fold in chopped pecans.
  7. Pour filling over warm crust and spread evenly. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
  8. Bake 25–28 minutes, until set but slightly soft in center.
  9. Cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

Let the bars cool fully before slicing for clean cuts. Use a light skillet for browning butter to avoid burning. Bars can be made ahead and freeze beautifully.
